How often should a small business actually post?

Cadence beats volume. Here's the posting rhythm that holds up when nobody on your team is a full-time marketer.

By Noor Haddad

Most posting advice is written for teams with a full-time content person. If that isn't you, the honest answer is that consistency at a lower volume outperforms a burst of daily posts followed by three quiet weeks.

Start at three posts a week

Three is enough to keep an account alive in a feed ranking algorithm, and low enough that a real person can sustain it alongside their actual job. Batch a fortnight at a time and schedule it.

  • Two value posts — something a customer learns from.
  • One proof post — work you shipped, a review, a before/after.
  • Reply to every comment within a day; the replies do more than the posts.

When to raise the volume

Only once the three-a-week rhythm has held for two months. Adding volume before that just makes the eventual drop-off more visible.
